King Crimson at the Beacon 11-17-2017

Another great show!  I’m a fan of the earlier King Crimson, especially with the late John Wetton, and was not familiar with any of the later material.  It was still a great show and I loved the 3 drummers up front!  The latest incarnation of the band featured Robert Fripp on guitar alongside with guitarist Jakko Jakszyk, bassist Tony Levin, saxophonist Mel Collins, and drummers Gavin Harrison, Pat Mastelotto and Jeremy Stacey.

Stanley Clarke at the Blue Note

Stan is the Man !  Amazing how he still plays as if he is 20 years old!  The show was with him center stage with an upright bass.  Drummer Lenny White, who I loved on Return to Forever, did a great job keeping the time but I wasn’t very impressed with his soloing and overall player.  The drummer who was on the last tour, Michael Mitchell, I thought was a much better fit for this band, although some would say he overplayed a little.  (you can see video of last tour here).  The most impressive of the night was Beka...
